Coming in this week’s Las Vegas Business Press

PENNIES UNWISE: Investing in penny stocks may seem like a cheap path to profits, but investment advisers say most bets on the stocks are as good as lost. Although some penny stock gems exist, they say most are duds, in some cases offered by fraud companies.
TICKETS TO RIDE: As gasoline prices climb toward $4 per gallon, Las Vegas commuters are looking to drive less. The Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada's Club Ride program, which encourages carpooling, can help. Businesses enrolling in the program can claim a federal payroll tax deduction of up to $1,000 per employee.
THIS WEEK'S BUSINESS PRESS POLL QUESTION
The Federal Aviation Administration ordered emergency inspections of Boeing 737s last week after a piece of fuselage tore off a Southwest Airlines plane flying at 30,000 feet. The inspections created a debate about the structural strain budget airlines put on planes by subjecting them to short hauls and frequent takeoffs and landings. Many budget airlines like Southwest also tend to use older jets and short hauls to keep ticket prices low.
Do you think these air safety concerns will decrease the number of tourists who fly to Las Vegas this summer?
