Faraday Future buying land at Apex Industrial Park

Electric carmaker Faraday Future has been buying land at the proposed site of its $1 billion plant at Apex Industrial Park for the past two months.

The company, which will hold a groundbreaking April 13, spent about $1.65 million to close on three parcels amounting to 14 acres of the proposed 900-acre site, Clark County assessor records show.

Medical marijuana companies Canna America Enterprises LLC and Libra Wellness Center LLC have sold parcels to Faraday and are moving elsewhere within the industrial park. A third medical marijuana company, Nuveda LLC, is also expected to sell.

Libra Wellness co-owner Bruce L. Gale said Faraday didn’t pressure his company to move. Gale, a local attorney running for District Court judge, said someone he declined to name contacted Libra Wellness on Faraday’s behalf to ask about moving the business.

Clark County assessor records show Libra Wellness purchased its 3.5-acre parcel for $350,000 in 2015. On March 14, it sold the land to Robin Prop Holdco LLC, a Delaware-based holding company, for $380,811, records show.

Assessor records list Robin Prop as the buyer and “in care of Faraday & Future” as its address.

Gale said Libra Wellness paid $315,000 for its new property near Love’s Truck Stop. The previous site had temporary water and power, he said, but the new site has permanent power and water utilities that yield operational savings for his business, although he declined to say how much.

Canna America recorded purchasing a 4.82-acre parcel for $384,000 in 2014. Assessor records show it sold the land in February to Robin Prop for $700,000.

Also, Three Cups Yard Real Estate LLC sold a 5.89-acre parcel to Robin Prop for $566,779.89 on March 7. Three Cups bought the land for $500,650 in 2014.

“We are in the final stages of closing on the last parcels of land,” Faraday spokeswoman Stacy Morris said. “We are moving extremely quickly for a project of this size and expect to start the heavy construction as soon as possible.”

Morris said Faraday expects to close on the remaining parcels by the groundbreaking and begin construction a few weeks later.

A proposed site layout, made public when Faraday applied with North Las Vegas for a height variance in February, shows the former Canna America parcel sits at the edge of the project’s warehouse docks and borders a truck/delivery entrance.

The layout also shows that the former Libra Wellness parcel remains vacant and sits near a truck/delivery entrance, east of the warehouse.

The company received an early grading permit from North Las Vegas in January to clear the site and prepare for grading. As of Thursday, the company had not yet received a permit for grading.
