Ground broken for City Crossing mixed-use project
November 26, 2007 - 10:00 pm
Las Vegas-based Plise Development has broken ground on City Crossing, a $2 billion, 126-acre mixed-use project near Henderson Executive Airport.
Plans call for 1 million square feet of premium office space, 1 million square feet of retail and restaurants, two boutique hotels and 2,500 luxury residential units.
"You can draw a comparison between Town Square with respect to retail gravity along with lifestyle tenants, combine that with the residential component of The District times three and then you incorporate into that mix the Howard Hughes office mix," Plise associate general counsel Jon Field said.
Field said City Crossing will serve the entire southern valley, particularly the affluent communities of Southern Highlands, Inspirada, Seven Hills, Anthem, Sun City, Silverado Ranch and Green Valley.
The project boasts 25 acres of parks, pedestrian trails and other amenities such as a community center, spa and fitness facilities. Upon completion in 2015, City Crossing will have 41 buildings with more than 6 million square feet of housing, retail and office elements.
"City Crossing will provide Henderson and Las Vegas with a versatile, mixed-use urban neighborhood unlike any other in Southern Nevada," Plise Chief Operating Officer Mitchell Stipp said in a statement.
Plise is the developer and general contractor. Architects Orange is the architect. Chaparral Contracting and WRG Engineering are also working on the project. The first two phases of development are slated for completion by third quarter 2009.
RESORT RESTAURANT: Penta Building Group has completed Diablo's Cantina restaurant and bar next to the main entrance of the Monte Carlo hotel.
With the charm of a Mexican coastal cantina, Diablo's is destined to be a "classic Las Vegas hotspot," Penta Vice President Ken Alber said. The second-floor bar balcony overlooks the Strip.
The $14.9 million, 13,000-square-foot restaurant is fashioned as an abandoned Mexican government building, anchored by an old stone wall ruin that frames the entry. Reclaimed wood, recycled embossed and hammered metal ceiling pieces, handmade Mexican tile, raw concrete and steel add to the rustic and authentic feel.
Klai Juba Architects served as the architect for the project.
