The group seeking an NHL team for Las Vegas has garnered more than 8,000 season ticket deposits on its way to a goal of 10,000 ticket commitments.
Lead investor Bill Foley and his partners, the Maloof brothers of Las Vegas, are selling ticket deposits of $150-$900 to show NHL team owners and league officials that the Las Vegas market is worthy of a big-league franchise.
Foley-Maloof wants a NHL team in place for the 2016-17 season. Foley said he has reached a lease agreement with the operators of the $375 million arena being built behind New York-New York on the Strip for the team to play there.
