SBA to host ‘matchmaking’ event in Las Vegas

The U.S. Small Business Association will host a “matchmaking” event in Las Vegas to help local small businesses connect with federal and commercial supply chain opportunities.

The private sector is being called to action by the American Supplier Initiative to “invest in their supply chains through small business,” SBA officials said in a statement this week.

“The American Supplier Initiative is part of a comprehensive plan to create jobs through growing small businesses while also ensuring that America has a strong, deep and diverse supply chain,” SBA Administrator Maria Contreras-Sweet said in the statement.

It can be tremendously beneficial to a small business’ growth to become a corporate supplier, but it is challenging to gain access, Contreras-Sweet said.

Similar events will take place in metropolitan areas across the country, such as Seattle, New York, and Houston, throughout 2015 as part of the American Supplier Initiative, which is designed to help innovative small businesses connect with large corporations looking for new additions in their supply chains.

The events will provide small businesses with the tools and resources to “find their footing” in corporate supply chains by bringing together corporate and federal buyers to meet with the potential suppliers.

Speakers and panels will also be featured at the events, which are free and open to the public.

The Las Vegas matchmaking event will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 9 at Mandalay Bay, 3950 Las Vegas Blvd. South.
