First CSN HVAC scholarships awarded to two veterans
Army Spcs. Jamie Olson and Larry Lemieux became the first recipients of scholarships from the Kenneth and Wendy Goodrich College of Southern Nevada’s Post-9/11 Veteran HVAC Employment Program. The goal of the scholarship is to help these veterans easily transition into lifelong careers following graduation.
In June 2013, Kenneth Goodrich established a $100,000 endowment at CSN to aid military veterans enrolled in the school’s air conditioning technology program. The endowment was envisioned by Goodrich to act as a subsidy to the existing Post-9/11 GI Bill which provides financial support for education and housing to individuals with at least 90 days of aggregate service after Sept. 10, 2001.
Legacy X Foundation, Justin Spencer host toy drive
Justin Spencer, founder and creator of the Las Vegas headliner show “Recycled Percussion” and the Legacy X Foundation, will host the second annual Toy Box Open House on Dec. 25.
The foundation headquarters, located at 4270 Cameron St, Suite 6, will open its doors from 1 to 5 p.m. on Christmas Day for families who can’t afford to buy toys this holiday season. Children who come to the event will be able to select the toys they want. Spencer and the Legacy X staff will also drive around the Las Vegas Valley to deliver toys to people’s homes who don’t have transportation to the headquarters.
The foundation’s mission is to create a place where people find their true self, define what their purpose is and a place where we inspire them to leave a legacy they are proud of. To donate or volunteer, email social@legacyx.com.
