Southwest reports fewer flights, passengers for February

The busiest air carrier at McCarran International Airport reported carrying fewer passengers on fewer flights than a year ago in February.

Dallas-based Southwest Airlines on Monday reported 7.6 million passengers, off 1.1 percent from February 2013. The number of trips flown was down 6.1 percent to 90,946, many of those due to weather cancellations.

Southwest flights were fuller in February with loads of 78.1 percent, 2.3 percentage points higher than in February 2013.

Southwest’s McCarran numbers will be reported later this month.
