High Roller showing its colors during light tests

An awe-inspiring light show is underway at The Linq this week as testing intensifies on the High Roller, the world’s tallest observatory wheel at 550 feet.

Fitting that Las Vegas would have an attraction on the Strip that bears a resemblance to a giant roulette wheel.

It appears that sections of the rim can be illuminated with different colors at the same time. Or it can all be one color, as evidenced Wednesday when it changed from red to green, blue, white and violet.

There are rumblings that the celebrity-studded grand opening is likely to be held in April, a few weeks after the High Roller gets approval to open.

The 28-air conditioned passenger cabins – or pods — can hold up to 40 people. Everything from corporate parties to birthday bashes are part of the plan.

The High Roller is the centerpiece of The Linq, the $550 million project behind the former Imperial Palace, now known as The Quad.
