Two men have been arrested in connection with two armed robberies, including one involving a taxi driver who was shot while trying to flee, North Las Vegas police said Thursday night.
Police said Jarvis Williams, 19, and Quincy Lovette, 18, were involved in robberies that on Feb. 11 and Feb. 15.
On Feb. 11, a 62-year-old taxi driver was lured to the 3900 block of Copper Stone Court, where police said he met up with Lovette and had a brief conversation at about 3:30 a.m. Williams then quickly approached the driver’s side of the cab and fired several shots into the vehicle, police said.
The man drove himself to a nearby convenience store where he used his radio to call for help. The Las Vegas man had been shot several times and was taken to University Medical Center.
He recovered from his injuries.
On Feb. 15, a 31-year-old man was lured to the 2100 block of Leatherbridge Court by an Internet advertisement, police said. Police were called to the scene about 4:46 a.m.
The preliminary investigation suggested Lovette and Williams pulled the man from his vehicle and robbed him at gunpoint. After a brief struggle, he ran away, police said, but the robbers chased him and fired multiple shots at him before driving off in his vehicle.
The man was not injured and later contacted police.
Lovette was later apprehended by officers in the 5000 block of Losee Road and jailed at the Clark County Detention Center on one count of attempted murder with a deadly weapon, one count of attempted murder with a deadly weapon of a victim over 60, one count of attempted robbery with a deadly weapon, one count of conspiracy to commit murder, one count of conspiracy to commit robbery, one count of battery with a deadly weapon resulting in substantial bodily harm, one count of robbery with a deadly weapon and one count of grand larceny of an automobile.
Williams was later taken into custody by detectives at his residence in the 4500 block of Possum Berry Lane and jailed at the Las Vegas City Jail on one count of attempted murder with a deadly weapon of a victim over 60, one count of attempted murder with a deadly weapon, one count of robbery with a deadly weapon of a victim over 60, one count of robbery with a deadly weapon, two counts of conspiracy to commit murder, two counts of conspiracy to commit robbery, one count of discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle, and grand larceny of an automobile.
