Actress-singer Pia Zadora arrested on domestic battery charge

Actress and singer Pia Zadora was arrested Saturday morning on domestic battery and coercion charges, according to Las Vegas police.

The 59-year-old former Broadway singer and Golden Globe winner was arrested about 11 a.m. Saturday. Police were called just before 4 a.m. on a family disturbance call to her residence in the 60 block of Hawkridge Drive in Summerlin.

Multiple police sources confirmed that SWAT units were called to the residence after the family barricaded themselves inside. Police did not disclose the circumstances surrounding the barricade.

Both Zadora and her publicist declined to comment on the incident when reached by phone Sunday evening.

Zadora was in the original 1964 Broadway production of “Fiddler on the Roof,” in which she portrayed Bielke. She gained national attention in 1981 when she won a Golden Globe Award as “New Star of the Year” for “Butterfly.”

She performed last July at Cabaret Jazz at The Smith Center for the Performing Arts.

Zadora is married to a Las Vegas police officer, Michael Jeffries, and has lived in Las Vegas since 2010.
