Bicyclist arrested on DUI after pedestrian critically injured

TRUCKEE, Calif. — A 24-year-old bicyclist was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after striking and critically injuring a pedestrian in the Sierra Nevada town of Truckee.
Police say 24-year-old Petra Bakker-Borhani of Truckee was riding her bicycle on a road along Donner Lake when the accident occurred shortly before the lake’s fireworks show Thursday night.
The adult male pedestrian was flown to a Reno hospital, where he was listed in critical condition with head injuries. His name was not released.
Police say Bakker-Borhani was arrested at the scene and booked into the Nevada County Jail on a charge of driving under the influence of alcohol.
