Coroner identifies man, wearing only underwear, killed by Las Vegas police
The man who was fatally shot by Las Vegas police after confronting them in his underwear Tuesday evening has been identified.
Southaly Ketmany, 35, broke into a home in the 9000 block of Crystal Rock Circle, police said. The homeowner arrived home and found Ketmany in his underwear watching TV and brandishing a knife.
After failed negotiations with SWAT officers including non-lethal tactics to draw him peacefully out of the house, Ketmany ran at officers and was shot. He was transported to University Medical Center, where he later died.
The Clark County coroner’s office said Ketmany’s cause of death was still being investigated.
The two officers involved in he shooting — Jay James and Douglas Ericsson — were placed on routine paid administrative leave pending a review.
