Las Vegas police identify officer involved in Sunday shooting

The officer involved in a Sunday shooting in the east valley was identified late Tuesday night by Las Vegas police.

Officer Jacquar Roston, 36, shot a man in the leg late Sunday after responding to a report of a domestic dispute at an east valley park.

The man who was shot was taken to University Medical Center and is believed to have sustained non-life- threatening injuries, according to police who have not identified him.

A woman called police to the park at 1600 S. Hollywood Blvd. at 10:22 p.m., claiming her ex-boyfriend beat her and damaged her vehicle. When police arrived, the two individuals were in the woman's vehicle. Police removed the woman from the car. While speaking to the man sitting in the passenger seat of the car, Roston fired at least one round, striking the man in the leg.

Roston has worked for the Metropolitan Police Department since April 2009. He was placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
