Las Vegas Strip reopens after fatal shooting and fiery crash

After a nearly 15-hour closure, the Strip reopened Thursday night after an early morning shooting and crash that left three people dead, Las Vegas police said.

Las Vegas police said occupants in a black Range Rover fired into a Maserati about 4:30 a.m. at Las Vegas Boulevard South and Flamingo Road. The Maserati crashed into a taxi that exploded, killing the driver and a passenger in the cab. The driver of the Maserati was also killed.

Police said the suspects in the Range Rover were on the lam.

The crash caused Flamingo to be closed between Interstate 15 and Audrie Lane, and the Strip was closed between Caesars Palace and Harmon Avenue.

Police spokesman Marcus Martin said at 7:20 p.m. all the streets were opening because the vehicles in the crash had been removed on flatbeds and street sweepers had cleaned the crime scene.
