Man jailed after saying he injected woman with fatal heroin dose

A man was arrested on a murder charge after he told police he injected a woman with a fatal dose of heroin.

Las Vegas police arrested Richard Kelly, 63, on Tuesday on a charge of second-degree murder in the death of Teresa Sanchez, 45.

Sanchez died of a drug overdose July 13. According to a toxicology report, Sanchez had methamphetamine, cocaine and heroin in her system when she died in Kelly's trailer at 4070 Las Vegas Boulevard North, near Nellis Boulevard in the northeast valley.

Kelly initially told police that Sanchez collapsed in his trailer about 5 a.m. July 13. He performed CPR on her until paramedics arrived, his arrest report said.

He later told detectives that he had actually injected her with $70 of heroin she brought to the trailer, the report said. She had never used heroin before, Kelly told police .
