Officers involved in stopping northeast valley shooting rampage identified

The names of the officers involved in Sunday’s shootings that left five dead have been released by Las Vegas police.

Metro officers Timothy Gross, Zack Beal and Brett Brosnahan are on paid administrative leave while the investigation continues.

Gross, 49, was hired by Las Vegas police in January 1995; Beal, 25, in July 2007; and Brosnahan, 33, was hired in March 2009, Metro said Wednesday night.

All three are patrol officers assigned to the Northeast Area Command and fired their weapons while responding to the shooting.

Metro Officers Alyn Beck and Igor Soldo were gunned down Sunday while eating lunch at CiCi’s Pizza Buffet located on Nellis Boulevard near Stewart Avenue. The shooters, Jerad and Amanda Miller, embraced extremist anti-police views, according to Metro.

The couple crossed the street after the shooting at CiCi’s and went to a Wal-Mart. They died after an exchange of gunfire with police. Before they were stopped, Wal-Mart shopper Joseph Wilcox, who police said tried to intervene, was fatally shot.
