Pahrump man accused of killing daughter’s boyfriend

A 21-year-old Pahrump man was fatally shot by his girlfriend's father early Thursday morning, authorities said.

The Nye County sheriff's office identified the victim as Christopher Mundy.

Daniel Robbins, 46, was arrested on murder charges after Mundy was shot and killed because "he (Robbins) was not happy with his daughter's choices," according to the sheriff's office.

An unidentified teenager, 14, also was shot and had an injury to his elbow, according to the sheriff's office.

The boy was taken to University Medical Center, where his condition was listed as stable. The teen was described by sheriff's office officials as Mundy's family friend.

The shooting happened about 1:30 a.m. at 940 Benson Circle in Pahrump.

Nye County Sheriff Tony DeMeo said Thursday afternoon that a call was made to the sheriff's office by a member of the Robbins family reporting a shooting after a trespassing.

"I don't know what justification there is to this," DeMeo said of the shooting.

The sheriff's office said Robbins was angry with his daughter's boyfriend and told him to leave his home.

Mundy did not leave and sat in his vehicle, which was parked in Robbins' driveway. According to the sheriff's office, Robbins then walked up to the car window, put a gun to Mundy's head and shot him.

Mundy died at the scene.

Before the shooting, sheriff's office officials said Robbins' daughter was arrested in a domestic dispute involving a sibling.

DeMeo said Robbins' daughter is an adult, but he didn't know her age. After her arrest, she asked Mundy to retrieve some of her things at the Benson Circle residence.

But before Mundy went to the home, he had several Facebook conversations with his girlfriend's parents and was threatened via the social networking website, according to the sheriff's office.

Upon Mundy's arrival at the residence, Robbins and his wife told him to leave. Robbins then fired a round at the front of his vehicle before he walked up to Mundy and fatally shot him, according to the sheriff's office.

Robbins was booked on charges of murder and battery with a deadly weapon.

DeMeo said Mundy was an innocent victim.

"This is a young individual who was complying with her (his girlfriend's) wishes to get her stuff out the house."
