Palms suite shooting victim identified as Henderson man
The Clark County coroner’s office has identified the man shot in Thursday night’s shooting at the Palms.
Henderson man Evan Plunkett, 25, suffered one gunshot wound to the chest and was transported to University Medical Center in critical condition, Las Vegas police Lt. John Liberty said. Plunkett later died.
The shooting took place during a party with 40 to 50 attendees at a suite inside the hotel’s Fantasy Tower. Police think Plunkett was shot during an argument with three other men, who fled before police arrived. The hotel was locked down but reopened after the shooting, according to police.
Police have made no arrest, Liberty said. Metro’s homicide department is investigating.
The Palms referred questions about the shooting to Metro in a statement released Friday.
“We are saddened by this unfortunate, isolated incident and our thoughts are with the victim’s family and friends,” the statement said. “The safety and security of our guests and team members are always our No. 1 priority.”
This is Metro’s 47th homicide investigation this year. Anyone with information can contact the police at 702-828-3521, or to remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555.
