Police make arrest in fatal shooting

A man was arrested Tuesday in connection with a Monday shooting that killed one man, according to Las Vegas police.

Jonathan Perez, 22, was arrested and taken to the Clark County Detention Center. He faces charges including first-degree murder, possession of a gun by a prohibited person, and discharging a gun within a structure or prohibited area.

Police allege Perez shot a man in an apartment complex on the 1500 block of East Harris Avenue, south of Washington Avenue near Bruce Street. Police were called to the scene about 7:30 p.m. and found an adult male on the ground with apparent gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, officials said.

An autopsy of the victim will be conducted by the Clark County coroner’s office. His identity will be released once next of kin have been notified.
