Suspect arrested in June sexual assault

A 26-year-old man faces multiple charges in the alleged sexual assault of a 19-year-old woman earlier this month, Las Vegas police said Wednesday.

Police said Shawn Brock was initially booked Monday into the Clark County Detention Center on a recommended charge of auto burglary. Police added additional charges the next day of sex assault with a deadly weapon, robbery with a deadly weapon and first-degree kidnapping with a deadly weapon.

Police accuse Brock of sexually assaulting a teenage woman on June 18 after she left a convenience store on Nellis Boulevard near Cheyenne Avenue.

Police said the victim walked to nearby apartment complex. The suspect then approached her from behind, brandished a handgun and forced her behind a dumpster, where he sexually assaulted her.

The victim said the suspect was wearing a hooded pullover and was of medium height and weight.

Sexual assault detectives are reviewing similar crimes and asking anyone with information about this incident or others involving Brock to call the Metropolitan Police Department Sexual Assault Section at 828-3421 or Crime Stoppers at 385-5555.
