Two arrested after high-speed chase charged with murder

Two men arrested after a high-speed chase Tuesday have been charged with murder in the Monday shooting death of a man.

Las Vegas police said Donzell Williams, 30, a.k.a "Deuce," and Lee Reed, 30, a.k.a "E," shot and killed 29-year-old David Lemay about 7:45 a.m. Monday.

Lemay was gunned down in the 2600 block of Lynnwood Street, near Sahara Avenue and Paradise Road.

A witness told police he saw Reed shoot Lemay. The witness said the killing was possible retaliation for an earlier shooting at the suspects' drug house, according to an arrest report released Wednesday.

Williams was also spotted at the scene by the witness, the report said.

On Monday police said they were looking for three men in a white van suspected in the shooting.

On Tuesday, Williams and Reed were arrested after a high-speed chase that ended after a crash at Tropicana Avenue and Mountain Vista Street.

Neither Williams nor Reed spoke to detectives after being arrested.

Deputy Chief Jim Owens said Wednesday that Williams and Reed were followed by patrol cars throughout the valley because they were accused of murder.

"This was one of those pursuits where we elected to continue because of the severity of the crime," Owens said.

A helicopter tailed the white, Toyota Camry that Williams and Reed fled in while patrol cars followed a distance away with their lights and sirens on. The chase lasted about 30 minutes before police used the "pit maneuver" on the Camry.

Under such a maneuver, a police car clips a rear corner of a fleeing vehicle to force it into a sideways skid, ultimately stopping it.

The third suspect in Monday's shooting, identified as Samuel Bowman, 32, was also named in the report.

Bowman had not been arrested as of Wednesday morning, according to jail records.
