Woman arrested in January shooting that wounded 3 people

A woman Metro says was involved in a January shooting near Clark High School that injured three people, one critically, was arrested on Thursday.

Kamasha Wells, 26, was booked into the Clark County Detention Center and faces 13 charges, including multiple counts of attempted murder and conspiracy to murder, booking logs show.

First responders were called on Jan. 9 to an apartment complex at 4155 Tara Ave., near Arville Street and Pennwood Avenue, where they found two men with gunshot wounds. One had been hit in the buttocks, the other was shot in the stomach. A woman who suffered a leg wound was driven to the hospital.

The man who had been shot in the buttocks was in critical condition because the bullet struck his femoral artery, police said.

The shooting stemmed from an argument over drug money and Wells’ purse being taken as collateral during a New Year’s Eve party, Las Vegas police said. Days before the shooting, Wells, who was armed, made threats about “shooting up the apartment,” police said.

On Jan. 9, Wells, her boyfriend, Larry “Pie” Brooks, and three other “males” returned to the apartment and the shooting ensued, police said.

Police recovered 28 bullet casings and said that there were children in the area when the shooting occurred.

Authorities on March 24 issued an arrest warrant for Wells and Brooks. Wells was arrested Thursday.
