A Clark County Detention Center inmate was charged with murder in connection with the killing of another inmate Sunday — the same day officials said he admitted to starting a house fire.
A North Las Vegas officer found the man lying in a roadway with a gunshot wound, police said. His death was ruled a homicide.
Alfonso Turner died of a gunshot wound to the head, according to the Clark County coroner’s office, which ruled his death a homicide.
Officers were called to a shopping plaza parking lot near East Centennial Parkway and Goldfield Street after they recieved a call about a person who had been shot.
Officials do not believe this to be a random act of violence, police said.
Police were notified just after 10:45 p.m. about an assault on the 4600 block of Amberleigh Lane.
Kathy Blanco, 30, died from stab wounds to the neck, according to the Clark County coroner’s office, which has ruled her death a homicide.
The woman’s cause and manner of death are pending, but police believe she was beaten with a “blunt object” during an argument.
Family members reported the man who allegedly killed a security guard at the hotel on Tuesday missing on March 5 and told Las Vegas police he “keeps a firearm in (his) vehicle.”
