Inmate who walked away from work crew in Las Vegas captured in Henderson

The inmate who walked away from a work crew in central Las Vegas last week has been taken into custody.

About 11:50 a.m., Wednesday, authorities found 36-year-old Juwan Ameil Stuart in Henderson, the Nevada Corrections Department said.

After a foot chase, Stewart was captured by Henderson police and the U.S. Marshals Service, the Corrections Department said.

Stewart walked away from his work crew, near the intersection of Valley View Boulevard and U.S. Highway 95, about 12:30 p.m. Friday, the Corrections Department said.

“Stuart will be transported to High Desert State Prison where he will complete his sentence and face new time for the escape warrant and possibly other charges,” the department said in a statement.
