Man in custody after threatening to jump from 215 Beltway overpass

A man who was threatening to jump from a northwest valley 215 Beltway overpass Tuesday night was in custody as of early Wednesday, officials said.

The man was first spotted on the 215 overpass near Sky Pointe Drive about 10:15 p.m., Metropolitan Police Department Lt. David Gordon said.

Shortly after, Metro units worked to shut down a section of the 215 near the incident with assistance from Nevada Highway Patrol. The U.S. Highway 95 exit onto the 215 westbound was closed as of 11:45 p.m.

As of 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, the man was considered in custody, as fire department officials helped him down from the overpass, Gordon said.

The 215 was expected to re-open shortly after.
