Man taken into custody after barricading himself in central Las Vegas apartment

The barricade situation at a central valley apartment has been resolved and the man taken into custody, according to Las Vegas police.

“The suspect was located inside the apartment and was taken into custody by SWAT. He faces multiple charges,” Metro said on Twitter.

A K-9 was used to get him into custody. The man was bitten by the dog as a result and taken to the hospital for a medical evaluation, Metro spokesman Brent Garcia said.

The man will be taken to the Clark County Detention Center and booked on charges of child endangerment, home invasion, evading a public officer and violation of a temporary protection order.

The man showed up at his girlfriend’s apartment uninvited and tried to get in about 11 p.m. Wednesday. The woman requested police assistance when he refused to leave, Garcia said.

The man and woman live in separate apartments at the same community in the 4400 block of Sirius Avenue.

Police located the man near Charleston and Rainbow boulevards Thursday morning and attempted to stop him in his vehicle. He did not stop, and a short pursuit ensued before police ended it for public safety, Metro spokeswoman Laura Meltzer said.

Shortly after, police located the man’s car at the apartment complex and the barricade began.

The pair have had domestic-violence-related incidents in the past, Meltzer said.

Sirius Avenue is still closed from Cameron Street to Arville Street to vehicle and pedestrian traffic. Two schools in the area, Cashman Middle School and Clark High School, were not locked down.
