Woman in custody after toddler taken in central Las Vegas

A woman is in custody after a child was taken Saturday afternoon in the central Las Vegas Valley, police said.

The child, a 15-month-old boy, was taken by the ex-girlfriend of his biological father, Metro Lt. Brian Cole said. Officers responded about 12:10 p.m. to the 3400 block of Haverford Avenue, near Pecos and Desert Inn roads.

Cole said the boy’s grandmother was watching him when he was taken.

The boy was later found, and the woman was taken into custody on the 4500 block of Sampson Drive, near Harmon Avenue and Nellis Boulevard.

Cole said police were still working to determine whether the boy was taken with the permission of his biological parents.
