The Silvertones singing group plans to mark two decades with a special show, “20 Years of Music,” scheduled for Saturday and Sunday at the Starbright Theatre.

The Faith Lutheran Theatre Company plans to perform “All Shook Up,” which is based on William Shakespeare’s “Twelfth Night” but features Elvis Presley as the star. It includes more than 20 of Presley’s greatest hits, including “Jailhouse Rock” and “It’s Now or Never.”
Visitors to Jean-Marie Auboine’s business are greeted by the overpowering fragrance of chocolate and perfectly preserved chocolate statues. A dragon, eagle, monkey and goblin occupy a desk that would usually belong to a receptionist.
This week’s event highlights include the Help Save the Animals Car Show & Swap Meet to benefit The Animal Foundation, a free family concert and performances by ventriloquist Ronn Lucas.
Event hightlights this week include a birthday tea celebrating Helen Stewart, a performance by The Good Lovelies, a birthday bash for City of the World founder Roz Knight and Las Vegas Academy Theatre’s “Our Town.”
They spoke of that other Las Vegas, joked about it, but it seemed so far away. Though it was a black-tie gala that aimed to be inclusive, it was, more importantly, a night to feel as grand and important as the new building it celebrated.

For about 10 minutes Friday night Lucky Lady Lucy was the brightest light in Las Vegas. Organizers of First Friday torched Lucy, a 20-foot-tall wooden showgirl, in front of thousands of cheering locals.
Even the new owners of First Friday Las Vegas aren’t sure what the future holds for the downtown arts district. But at least the organization behind the monthly street festivals has a future after investors plunked down $50,000 to buy the name, mailing lists and web addresses associated with the event.
