Philharmonic revives July Fourth concert

The Las Vegas Philharmonic revives, and expands on, a holiday tradition this Independence Day with its first Fourth of July concert in three years, adding new elements to the celebration at downtown’s Smith Center and the adjacent Symphony Park.

Titled “4th with the Phil,” the event includes a 4 p.m. family fun day — complete with live entertainment and food and beverage vendors — in Symphony Park, a 7:30 p.m. pops concert in Reynolds Hall and a 9 p.m. fireworks display in Symphony Park.

In addition, the Discovery Children’s Museum, adjacent to The Smith Center, will offer free admission from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. to “4th with the Phil” ticket holders.

Las Vegas-based conductor Matt Catingub will lead the Philharmonic’s concert, which will feature guest vocalists Clint Holmes and Kristen Hertzenberg .

The concert, which will be simulcast live into the park, will conclude with excerpts from Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture.

Concert tickets are $25, $50 and $75; a limited number of $125 VIP packages include box tier seats and admission to a preconcert barbecue. Entry to Symphony Park activities costs $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under.

Tickets for both the concert and Symphony Park activities are available at The Smith Center box office, 361 Symphony Park Ave., by telephone at 702-749-2000 or online at www.lvphil.org.
