Smith Center announces busy fall season

From Anita Baker to Ben Vereen, from the Israel Philharmonic to the Irish Tenors, an international array of performers will play The Smith Center's fall season.

And a fourth stage joins the center's Reynolds Hall, Cabaret Jazz and Troesh Studio Theatre: outdoors at Symphony Park, where the Italian family circus Zoppe will perform in November.

Zubin Mehta will lead the Israel Philharmonic in Reynolds Hall on Oct. 29; "Steppin' Out with Ben Vereen," checks into Reynolds Hall on Nov. 10, and Anita Baker performs on Nov. 29.

Other musical offerings include Dr. John and the Blind Boys of Alabama (Oct. 16), Sergio Mendes' "Jazz Roots: Brazil" (Nov. 9), Jim Brickman's "On a Winter's Night" (Nov. 12), the Irish Tenors (Nov. 27) and the Beatles-inspired Classical Mystery Tour (Nov. 30), while dance attractions include the Pilobolus Dance Theatre (Oct. 24) and Ballet Folklorico de Mexico (Nov. 4-5.)

Those who purchase tickets to five or more shows are eligible for a 10 percent discount, a savings that results in five shows for the price of four. Tickets are available by phone at 749-2000 or online at www.TheSmithCenter.com.
