Casinos offering play-for-food promotions throughout valley

Hungry? Your timing is perfect -- there are an abundance of play-for-food promotions all over the valley this month.

Earn 100 same-day points ($100-$400 coin-in -- no point redemption required) at any Station or Fiesta casino on Sundays-Thursdays in September and you get a breakfast or lunch buffet. Players earning 200 same-day points can get a brunch or dinner buffet. You must pick up a comp slip from the players club after you have earned the designated points.

Every Thursday at the Cannery players earning 799 same-day points ($799 coin-in on slots, $1,598 coin-in on video poker -- no point redemption required) receive a seafood buffet plus $20 in free slot play. And all month long the Silverton is offering two-for-one buffets when you present your Discovery Card.

The Bighorn and Longhorn casinos are paying bonuses ($2-$10) to players hitting a four-of-a-kind in 5s-10s as well as for slot jackpots of $50 and up. Bonuses are paid directly at the machines and club membership is not required.

You can pick up a variety of prizes this week by earning 500 same-day base points ($500 coin-in -- no point redemption required) at M. Players earning 500 points today receive a sport bag. Sunday 500-point earners get a wine tote -- and can earn the actual bottle of wine by earning 500 points on Tuesday or Thursday. What do players get for earning 500 points on Wednesday? How about Girl Scout cookies?

Twice every September night (6 and 9 p.m.) the Vegas Club chooses three winners to spin the wheel and up to $500 cash. Players receive one entry for every 100 slot club points earned at either the Vegas Club or the Plaza.

Throughout the season at both Arizona Charlie's Boulder and Arizona Charlie's Decatur all losing $20 parlay and $50 straight wagers can be used as entries into drawings (Sept. 24, Oct. 29, Nov. 26 or Jan. 2). Total prizes are $1,000 at each drawing with a top prize of $500. We were not told if winners must be present at the drawings.

Terrible's poker room is awarding $100 to the high-hand-of-the-day (noon-noon). A four-of-a-kind or better is required and the pot has to be at least $10.
