BRITISH REPORT ON CELINE FUDGES THE FACTS

A virus that caused Celine Dion to miss her entire February and March run of 14 shows should be knocked out by mid-April. That’s a far cry from a sensationalized report by a British newpaper Wednesday that said “doctors ordered her to cancel performing from now until June 9.”

Dion’s husband, Rene Angelil, told Vegas Confidential that the British report “makes it sound like she’s going to be sick for three months. She should be okay in six weeks.”

The Caesars Palace headliner met on Monday with a top specialist, Prof. Gerald Berke of UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles.

He found a virus attached to her right vocal chord, said Angelil.

She has a March 12 appointment with Berke to see how she’s progressing, he added.

Angelil said she arrived in Las Vegas in mid-February and “wasn’t 100 percent. We figured she would be OK for the 22nd,” when her run was to begin. Her engagement was to end March 18, with her next run to begin June 9 and go through August 19.

“It was just bad luck,” said Angelil.
