Five days after ending a 4 1/2-year run as a headlining comedy magician at the Flamingo, Nathan Burton is opening Tuesday at the David Saxe Theater at Planet Hollywood Resort.
Burton worked out a deal that allowed him to jump from a Caesars Entertainment-0wned hotel to a sister property. Within two days he had a deal with Saxe.
Burton sought the move so he can start filming a reality show with powerhouse Freemantle Media in January. Tentatively titled, "Family Magic," it would air next summer.
Burton’s Flamingo contract had expired and he was given the OK to move to the Planet Hollywood venue, which was formerly the Steve Wyrick Theater.
Freemantle Media owns such productions as such "The X Factor," "American Idol" and "America’s Got Talent."
The family-driven reality show will feature Burton, a preacher’s son-turned-magician, and his mother, Nancy, who handles the business side, and sister, Emily, who handles production, including the showgirls.
It’s a gamble, said Burton, "but if it hits, it’s a game changer."
