WAYNE NEWTON ADDRESSES NEIGHBORS’ CONCERNS ABOUT TOURIST ATTRACTION

Las Vegas entertainer Wayne Newton addressed plans to turn his Casa de Shenandoah estate into a tourist attraction during a neighborhood meeting Monday. A standing-room-only crowd of about 200 attended the gathering at the La Quinta on Sunset, with heated concerns raised about the potential impact on traffic and the Rural Neighborhood Preservation area. The project would include a museum and a horse show along with tours of Newton's jet airplane, exotic car collection and a small zoo. When a dissenter asked for a show of hands late in the process, only three showed support compared to several dozen against. (Photo courtesy Scott Harrison/Retna)
