Fireworks, fun start before the Fourth

The Fourth of July comes early next week with local celebrations.

Lied Community School, 5340 W. Tropical Parkway, is hosting a Fourth of July Carnival featuring games and food from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday. Admission is $2. For more information, call 229-5072.

The Las Vegas 51s will have fireworks after their games against the Salt Lake Bees Wednesday and Thursday at Cashman Field. Game time is 7:05 p.m. For more information, call 798-7825.

The Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, 7000 Las Vegas Blvd. North, will have fireworks after its Night of Fire races Thursday. Gates open at 5 p.m. and the fireworks will start at approximately 9:45 p.m. For more information, call 632-8213.

And the City of North Las Vegas will have its 8th Annual Independence Day Jubilee beginning at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Seastrand Park, 6330 Camino Eldorado. The free festival will include music by Yellow Brick Road, children's activities, food and a fireworks display. For more information, call 633-2650.

Beethoven, Brahms on tap for Sunday concert

The Las Vegas Youth Camerata and Clark County Parks and Recreation present The Friends of the Camerata Chamber Players at 2 p.m. Sunday at Winchester Cultural Center, 3130 S. McLeod Drive.

Violinist Laraine Kaizer-Viazovtsev, cellist Elena Kapustina and pianists Tamara Saakyan and Ekaterina Melkamini will perform Tchaikovsky's "Meditation from Souvenir d'un Lieu Cher" for violin and piano, Beethoven's "Archduke: Piano Trio Op. 97" and Brahms' "Sonata Op. 28 E Minor" for cello and piano.

Admission is $10 for adults, $7 for students and seniors.
