Philharmonic to perform movie music

The Las Vegas Philharmonic will perform a selection of memorable film songs at 7 p.m. Saturday in Artemus Ham Hall, 4505 S. Maryland Parkway.

The Family Movie Magic Concert, under the direction of assistant conductor Richard McGee, will include title pieces from "Jaws," "Apollo 13" and "Star Wars," as well as selections from "Pirates of the Caribbean," "Batman," "Schindler's List," "Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves" and "Dances with Wolves."

John Williams is the featured composer.

Tickets are $15 for general admission and $9 for children under 12.

Jazz orchestra to play Brazilian-inspired songs

The Las Vegas Jazz Society's Nevada Jazz Orchestra will perform a Brazilian-inspired concert at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Winchester Cultural Center Theater, 3130 S. McLeod Drive.

Barry Ross, director of the 17-piece orchestra, created arrangements and pieces inspired by his recent trip to Brazil.

Tickets are $20 for general admission, $15 for students and seniors, and $10 for Las Vegas Jazz Society members.

Adult expo scheduled for today, Saturday

Adult stars will meet and greet fans Friday and Saturday during the 2008 AVN Adult Entertainment Expo.

The event is scheduled for noon to 6:30 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday at the Sands Convention and Expo Center, 201 Sands Ave.

Tickets are $73 a day in advance or $80 at the door.
