The List: Latest DVDs, CDs, books, February 12

A look at some of the DVDs, CDs and books hitting stores this week:

DVDs

"Skyfall" (PG-13): James Bond (Daniel Craig) must protect M (Judi Dench) from a mysterious cyberterrorist (Javier Bardem) from her past in the 23rd installment of the 007 franchise.

Elsewhere, a troubled high school freshman (Logan Lerman) is taken in by older, outsider-ish stepsiblings (Ezra Miller, Emma Watson) in the coming-of-age tale "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" (PG-13), based on writer-director Stephen Chbosky's teen-lit favorite. A 38-year-old poet and journalist (John Hawkes) confined to an iron lung decides he's ready to lose his virginity and seeks the help of two professionals, a supportive priest (William H. Macy) and a sex surrogate (Helen Hunt), in the fact-based drama "The Sessions" (R). When 19th-century warriors and assassins descend on a Chinese village to battle for a fortune in gold, they're joined by the local blacksmith (co-writer and director RZA), who's been forced to create elaborate tools of destruction, in "The Man with the Iron Fists" (R), an ode to kung-fu classics co-starring Russell Crowe and Lucy Liu. And, on the eve of her 18th birthday, and plagued by nightmares and the disappearance of her father, Heather Mason (Adelaide Clemens) discovers she's not who she thinks she is in the horror sequel "Silent Hill: Revelation" (R).

Topping today's TV transfers: "Weeds: Season Eight," "Gossip Girl: The Complete Sixth and Final Season," "Nurse Jackie: Season Four," "Toddlers and Tiaras: Season Two," "Family Matters: The Complete Third Season," "The Hardy Boys: Season Three," "Matlock: The Eighth Season" and "Bonanza: The Official Complete Fifth Season."

CDs

Foals, "Holy Fire": British indie rockers Foals have a sound that's kind of like spider's silk, seemingly delicate but also surprisingly sturdy.

The band is much bigger in the U.K. than in the U.S.

But perhaps that will change if "Holy Fire" does indeed catch fire.

Also in stores: Bullet for My Valentine, "Temper Temper"; The Bryan Ferry Orchestra, "The Jazz Age"; Lisa Germano, "No Elephants"; and "Smash" Cast, "Bombshell: The New Marilyn Musical from Smash."

BOOKS

"Guilt" by Jonathan Kellerman: Psychologist Alex Delaware teams with homicide detective Milo Sturgis to uncover the link between a murdered young woman and the discovery of an infant's body buried decades ago.

And, in "Hit Me" by Lawrence Block, hit man John Keller, happily living under an assumed name with his family in New Orleans, gets sucked back into the business when the economy tanks.

Also hitting shelves: "Calling Me Home" by Julie Kibler; "The Dinner" by Herman Koch; "Faith" by Dr. Joe Vitale; "Give Me Everything You Have: On Being Stalked" by James Lasdun; "The House Girl" by Tara Conklin; "The Indigo Spell" by Richelle Mead; "Life Code: The New Rules for Winning in the Real World" by Phillip C. McGraw; "Out of the Easy" by Ruta Sepetys; "Slim for Life" by Jillian Michaels; "A Time for War" by Michael Savage; "Vampires in the Lemon Grove" by Karen Russell; and "A Week in Winter" by Maeve Binchy.
