Summer concerts celebrate range of Latin music stars

Latin cable network mun2, Telemundo Las Vegas KBLR-TV, Channel 39, and the Fremont Street Experience will bring the sixth annual Descarga summer concert series to Las Vegas next month.

Building on the success of Descarga's Universal Studios Citywalk series, "Descarga 2012 in Las Vegas" will offer two free Latin music concerts on the Third Street Stage at the Fremont Street Experience downtown.

The first concert, at 8 p.m. July 14, will feature Beto Cuevas and Jotdog. On July 28 at 8 p.m., the show will star Larry Hernandez and El Pelon del Mikrofono. The hosts will be mun2 on-air talent Yarel Ramos ("Reventon with Yarel") and Guadalupe Venegas ("18 & Over").

Cuevas is the former lead singer of the Chilean rock band La Ley with whom he recorded 10 albums and earned several award nominations including a Grammy, Latin Grammy and MTV Award. He recently released a solo album, "Transformacion."

Jotdog is a Mexican pop band with electronic influences consisting of Maria Barracuda and Jorge "La Chiquis" Amaro.

Hernandez is one of the most recognized faces in Regional Mexican music and injects his own style into the traditional genre.

El Pelon del Mikrofono is a Mexican artist known for his unique contribution to the music genre Movimiento Tribal. He recently released "La Cumbia Tribalera."

Mun2 will shoot an episode of its new reality series "Larrymania" on location, showing some of Hernandez's fast-paced life. The network will also shoot an episode of its music countdown show "18 & Over."
