'1776' opens at Spring Mountain Ranch

This is the first weekend for Super Summer Theatre's production of "1776" at Spring Mountain Ranch State Park, 15 miles west off Charleston Boulevard.

The musical tells the story of our young nation preparing to declare independence from Great Britain.

Performances are scheduled for 8 p.m. today, Saturday, Wednesday and Thursday with additional shows through July 26.

Attendees may bring blankets or chairs and picnics.

Tickets are $10 in advance, $15 at the gate.
