Rainbow Company activities for all ages

The Rainbow Company Youth Theatre is offering numerous opportunities this summer for youth interested in theater.

The program, operated by the city of Las Vegas, is offering a two-week actor training conservatory June 17-29 for youth ages 8-16 of all theater experience levels at Charleston Heights Arts Center. Guest artists and award-winning staff will conduct classes and rehearsals leading up to a performance on the main stage of the center June 29.

The cost is $225 per youth. Space is limited. Registration will remain open until space is filled. Youth ages 8-11 will attend from 8 a.m. to noon; ages 12-16 will participate from 1 to 5 p.m. Charleston Heights Arts Center is at 800 S. Brush St. In addition, enrollment is open for summer class sessions for ages 4-17 that begin June 8 and continue through July 17. Serious theater students ages 10-17 are invited to audition for the Rainbow Company Student Ensemble at 1 p.m. Aug. 17 at Charleston Heights Arts Center. Student Ensemble participants receive intensive training in all aspects of theater, from acting to set construction and ushering.

Ensemble members attend weekly mandatory classes and crew or act in all Rainbow Company productions. No prepared material is required. Comfortable clothing should be worn that allows for movement.

Auditions for Rainbow Company’s first production of the season, “The Boy Who Left Home to Find Out About the Shivers,” will be at 1 p.m. Aug. 24 at Charleston Heights Arts Center. Roles are available for adults and young people ages 12 and older. There is no charge to audition. The show will be performed at Charleston Heights Arts Center Oct. 4-6 and Oct. 11-13.
