Six Picks: Our experts pick their favorites for the week

Concert combo

If the end of summer has you "Holdin' On To Yesterday," maybe you need to hear Ambrosia sing about that. Or Mitch Ryder & The Detroit Wheels kick out that "Devil with the Blue Dress On." Only a radio-promoted gig would combine these random acts, along with Eddie Holman and John Ford Coley. But they are all together - and free! - starting at 4 p.m. Saturday at The Cannery, 2121 E. Craig Road; call 507-5700.

Imagine Dragons

In the span of three days next week, Vegas-born, dance floor-friendly rockers Imagine Dragons will perform on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!," release their new album, "Night Visions," and hit the MTV Video Music Awards, where they're up for "Best Rock Video." And yet, they'll still find the time to play their hometown at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Hard Rock Cafe on the Strip, 3771 Las Vegas Blvd. South. Tickets are $17 in advance, $20 day of show; call 733-7625.

Free movies

Say goodbye to summer with the final weekend of the free "All-American Summer" movie series at the pool at the Renaissance Las Vegas, 3400 Paradise Road. "The Dark Knight" is scheduled for tonight, with "I Love You, Man" following on Saturday. Specialty cocktails will be available during both movies, which begin at dusk.

'Wicked'

Feeling "Wicked"? It's about time. The very first show announced to play The Smith Center for the Performing Arts, the Tony-winning musical is finally in residence at Reynolds Hall through Oct. 6, recounting the early Oz years of the future Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good Witch , long before Dorothy Gale landed - and discovered she wasn't in Kansas anymore. For tickets ($39-$150; prices subject to change), call 749-2000 or go online to www.thesmithcenter.com.

Le Barbecue

Chefs from Comme Ca at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas will be grilling beer-can chicken, leg of lamb and skirt steak at Strip-side grills from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday. The Le Barbecue event also will include accompanying dishes such as charcuterie, steak tartare and shrimp cocktail, and Prohibition Punch to wash it all down. The food's $49, unlimited punch an additional $25.

David Guetta

David Guetta - superstar DJ writer-producer - performs Sunday at Encore Beach Club, then Sunday night at Wynn nightclub XS. His biggest hits read like a Hall of Fame resume: "Where Them Girls At" (featuring Nicki Minaj and Flo Rida), "Sexy Chick" (Akon), "Turn Me On" (Minaj), "Gettin' Over You" (Chris Willis, Fergie and LMFAO), "Memories" (Kid Cudi), "I Gotta Feeling" (Black Eyed Peas), "Who's That Chick" (Rihanna) and "When Love Takes Over" (Kelly Rowland). Amazing.
