Williams benefit to honor Davis
October 21, 2010 - 11:00 pm
The benefit concert carries the name of the late, great jazz singer Joe Williams. But this year, Sammy Davis Jr. is the name in the spotlight.
Two big fans of Davis will pay homage in their own way. Domenick Allen owns the musical arrangements Davis used onstage and will re-create some of them at the benefit.
Rick Faugno plays Frankie Valli in "Jersey Boys," but has done his own showcases to show local audiences his tap-dancing tribute to "Mr. Bojangles."
The event is rounded out by others with Sammy ties: Marlena Shaw, Bill Fayne, Vincent Falcone and host Pete Barbutti.
Tickets are $30 for the 2 p.m. benefit on Sunday at the Rio, 3700 W. Flamingo Road. Call 733-8229.
