World-class organist comes to rededicate UNLV pipe organ
October 10, 2013 - 1:02 pm
One of the world’s best organists, Dr. Isabelle Demers, will play for a rededication ceremony Friday in the Doc Rando Recital Hall on the UNLV campus.
Demers was the last organist to play the organ before it was damaged by a faulty sprinkler in May 2012. The restoration done by the Rudolf von Beckerath Orgelbau company, cost upward of $600,000. The instrument originally was installed in 2004 and is now valued at $1.3 million.
The concert, at 7:30 p.m., is free and open to the public.
