New homebuyer chooses American West Homes

As an American West Homes sales representative, Todd White is familiar with American West's craftsmanship and pricing. But as a new homebuyer, he said he had to check out the competition.

"I looked at other homebuilders just to see what was out there. Seeing what other builders offered just solidified my decision that I would be buying an American West home," he said.

White, 26, wanted a house in a good location, offered entertaining space, room to grown and a yard for his dog. He started his search with American West in their Coronado Ranch neighborhood.

"Coronado Ranch is in the heart of the southwest," he said. "It's close to everything. It's 10 minutes from Red Rock, the airport and the Strip. There is a large variety of shopping and dining choices within Coronado Ranch."

American West offers four communities within Coronado Ranch, including SouthBrook, Jones Crossing, Reserve and Woodbridge with new home designs ranging from 1,798 to 4,770 square feet.

"I went to Jones Crossing and found a floor plan I just fell in love with," White said.

He chose the 2200 plan, a two-story home that measures 2,200 square feet with four bedrooms, 2½ baths and the open entertaining space he wanted. It also has a kitchen with an island and an open great room. The pool-size home site included the space White wanted for his dog.

Jones Crossing offers two- and three-story homes ranging from 1,798 to 3,072 square feet with as many as five bedrooms, 2½ baths starting from the $260,000s. Features include family-dining islands, first-floor master bedrooms, master retreats, laundry/mudrooms, hobby rooms, additional master bedroom options, flexible space and extra storage, depending on the floor plan.

While White has helped make the American Dream come true for dozens of Las Vegas residents, his first-time buying experience was more exciting than he expected.

"It was fun. I loved watching the home's progress. It gave me something to look forward to every day," said White who visited the home site regularly.

"My father was in construction and when he visited the site, he said, 'Wow. They're building a great home for you, second to none.' It was nice to hear him say that," White said.

American West includes dozens of standard features that are included in the price of the home. Every home at Jones Crossing includes pavers in the driveway, walkway and ground-floor porches. The kitchens include granite counters, large islands and knobs and pulls on the cabinetry. Nine-foot ceilings and 8-foot doors are standard.

When it was time to move in, White wasn't just handed the keys. An American West Quality Assurance Manager expert took him through American West's New Home Demonstration. American West assigns a quality assurance manager to every new home the company builds. In addition to the superintendent and building crew, they oversee every aspect of the construction process and know the workings inside and out

"We walked through the entire home and went over every detail in full — top to bottom — every system, every appliance," White said. "Every aspect of the home was put through a detailed demonstration."

American West is selling at eight new-home communities throughout the Las Vegas Valley. The new-home designs range from 1,798 to 5,487 square feet. Each American West community is a little different and appeals to different types of buyers.
