Phoenix couple settle into One Las Vegas home

While most blind dates don't end well, Mike and Anastasia Olson are proud to be the exception. The couple, who recently celebrated 30 years of marriage, just added another milestone to their running list of significant life moments when they purchased a two-bedroom, 2½ bath home at One Las Vegas, the high-rise condominium community on the south end of Las Vegas Boulevard.

"We raised our twins in Phoenix and throughout our kids' childhoods, our home was the 'it spot' for friends to gather after school, during summers and holiday breaks," Mike said. "Now, that our children and their friends are preparing to graduate college, we decided it was time to do something for ourselves because it's our turn to have fun. Our move to Las Vegas and our purchase of a high-rise condominium 16 floors up is a true leap of faith and elevation of our lifestyle. And we're enjoying every minute of it."

Mike is the president and owner of Olson Precast Co., a company that specializes in concrete product manufacturing, drainage utility work and various types of infrastructure. With divisions in Las Vegas and Southern California, he and Anastasia have grown accustomed to everything the city has to offer since his business opened in 1989. While managing and running his two-city company, Mike purchased, in the 1990s, a home in the southwest part of the valley to serve as his home away from home during extended work trips.

"It was a ranch-style house and while we loved the size of the home and our land, I was constantly having to repair things," he said. "Last fall, we decided to sell our Las Vegas home and simultaneously had our eyes peeled for a new place, looking at every high-rise condominium community around the city. Our visit and presentation of One Las Vegas sealed the deal. We have only lived in our new home for about a month and are already completely enamored by our vibrant, easy, fun and hassle-free lifestyle."

Aside from the nearly 360-degree views from their two balconies, the Olsons said they particularly loved One Las Vegas' full-service concierge service, guard-gated security with 24-hour courtesy patrol, communal and recreational areas and the state-of-the-art fitness center, which they use daily.

"Both our son and daughter have jobs lined up in Los Angeles, and we are already looking forward to their visits in our new digs," Anastasia said. "Our floor plan, spacious great room and the extra bedroom will easily accommodate their weekend trips. We can't wait to show off our new home and way of life to our children and all our friends."

The Olsons spend about half their time in their Phoenix home but admitted they anticipate their time taking a gradual shift over the next few months.

"Our home at One Las Vegas has a distinctive interior style very different from our Phoenix house, and I am having a blast decorating and purchasing new pieces to complement its darker tones," Anastasia said. "While we are about a decade away from retirement, we are already enjoying a new sense of adventure and freedom that comes with this new phase of life. We raised two kids and led very successful careers. It's definitely our turn to have fun, and we're confident we couldn't have made a better decision than investing in our new life at One Las Vegas."

Of the twin 20-story towers, DK Las Vegas purchased 295 of the project's 359 residences. Homes range from 831 to 2,857 square feet with many floor plans offering spectacular views of the mountains and the Strip. One-bedroom homes are priced from the low $200,000s; two-bedroom homes from the high $200,000s; and three-bedroom homes from the low $400,000s. The penthouse, offering 3,000 square feet of sweeping views, is priced at $1.1 million.

One Las Vegas is close to Interstate 15, the 215 Beltway and just minutes from McCarran International Airport. Town Square, just a few blocks north of the property, provides one-stop shopping and scores of dining and entertainment options in the neighborhood.

For more information, visit the One Las Vegas onsite sales center at 8255 S. Las Vegas Blvd, or online at info@theonelv.com. The sales center is open Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m.
