Skye Canyon debuts more new-home models — PHOTOS

Skye Canyon, the latest master-planned community in the northwestern Las Vegas Valley, debuted its newest model homes at a Jan. 23 Century Communities grand opening.

The builder is the third to join the master plan. Woodside Homes and Pulte Homes have open models and sales offices within the 9,000-home master-planned community at U.S. Highway 95 and Fort Apache Road.

Century Communities is bucking the two-story floor plans trend with its single-story home in the new Alpine Crossings neighborhood.

Homebuyers can choose a single-story, 2,169-square-foot home with the option to add a second floor with a bonus room, bedroom suite or bonus room and two bedrooms, which would expand the footprint to 3,250 square feet.

Don Boettcher, president of Century Communities Nevada Division, said single-story floor plans are extremely popular among homebuyers.

"We're offering a single-story residence at our Alpine Crossings community in an effort to meet this demand," he said. "We make every effort to provide a desirable product that thoroughly fits the needs of our Las Vegas shopper and the single-story floor plan does exactly that."

Boettcher said Century Communities sought to build in Skye Canyon due to its "suburb" location.

"When we're evaluating a master plan we want to make sure it's well thought out and positioned and we felt it demonstrated a lot of thought so we wanted to be a part of it," he said. "Strategically, we wanted to be part of the first phase and evolve with it."

Century Communities is slated to build 204 single-family homes at Skye Canyon.

In addition to the single-story floor plan, Alpine Crossings will also feature two, two-story floor plans, which both can come equipped with four to six bedrooms, a two-car garage, covered patio and optional casita or multigenerational casita.

"There's a lot of flexibility in our product design," he said. "We're able to give the consumer lots of options within a particular plan so they can customize it to their preferences."

Century Communities' Whisper Peak neighborhood boasts two series of homes; Aspen and Tahoe.

The Aspen series has four two-story floor plans, which range from 1,731 square feet to 2,259 square feet.

The three Tahoe homes are two-story floor plans, ranging from 2,374 square feet to 2.870 square feet.

"The Skye Canyon floor plans are an entirely new portfolio we've been designing for the past 12 to 18 months," Boettcher said. "It's been a collaborative effort that included an interior designer, architect, Century employee and landscape architect to make sure they represent current trends."

In addition to multigenerational options, Boettcher said Century Communities is also emphasizing outdoor spaces.

Staci White, director of architecture for Olympia Cos., developer of Skye Canyon, said the whole community is centered upon the outdoors as it will feature Skye Park, a 14-acre park with a basketball court, soccer field, splash pad and picnic areas as well as several smaller parks in each individual community.

In March, Skye Center will provide residents with a coffee shop, indoor fireplace and outdoor living spaces with splash pads, covered patios, grills and fireplaces, and Skye Fitness, a more than 9,000-square-foot fitness center with a swimming pool, will debut.

"When a developer makes a financial commitment to introduce those amenities at the beginning, it's a big statement," Boettcher said. "We're proud to be part of it."

"We're in active selling mode," Boettcher said. "We'll evolve as the different phases are introduced over the coming years as a long-term partner and builder within that master plan."
