28K raised for family of Ohio woman hit by rock on highway
CANTON, Ohio — Friends have raised more than $28,000 to benefit the family of a northeast Ohio woman critically injured when a rock was deliberately dropped from a highway overpass onto the windshield of a car in Pennsylvania.
Fifty-two-year-old Sharon Budd was hit in the face by the rock dropped onto Interstate 80 near Milton, Pennsylvania, on July 10.
The Repository in Canton reports girls from the Perry Local School District, where Budd teaches, fundraised through a lemonade stand, and thousands of dollars in donations were made through two online pages set up by friends of the family.
Budd has been at a Pennsylvania hospital and had surgery to reduce pressure on her brain. Her husband says she has started to wiggle her fingers and toes and respond to commands.
