Alliance’s luncheon benefits Make-A-Wish

The Clark County Medical Society Alliance held its 12th-annual Spring Fashion Show Luncheon benefiting Make-A-Wish of Southern Nevada on Feb. 13 at the Four Seasons.

The society is a nonprofit service organization made up of spouses of members of the Clark County Medical Society and American Medical Association. Its focus is on health-related needs of Southern Nevada, and each year a different charity is supported.

The midmorning Champagne reception allowed the 400 guests time to bid at the extensive silent auction as well as visit makeup technicians from Dior.

Guests were seated for a dual-entree luncheon of seared sea bass and beef short ribs. Mistress and master of ceremonies were Jessica Moore and Jim Snyder, news anchors at KSNV-TV, Channel 3.

Welcoming the guests were Shanila Choudhury, president of the society; and fashion-show chairwomen and society co-presidents Addy Zilberman and Zerine Choudhury. Zerine substituted for Cheri Resh, who was not able to attend.

Leading off the event was a performance by the Australian singing group Human Nature.

Melissa Warren, chairwoman for Make-A-Wish Southern Nevada, spoke about the work that her organization has accomplished locally since its founding in 1996. Warren introduced a special guest, magician Criss Angel, who has become involved with Make-A-Wish and is responsible for granting many wishes. He was accompanied by three young children with life-threatening medical conditions who have had their wishes granted. Angel reflected on the life-changing effect that a wish experience has on children, families, donors and sponsors.

The afternoon concluded with a “Spring Fever” fashion show presented by Saks Fifth Avenue. Seen among the guests were Mari Landers, Debbie Miles, Nahed Abdou, Phyllis Schwartz, Eleanore Doumani, Gina Hines, Brittany McCoy, Lynn Kantor, Bonnie Ng, Harry Zilberman, Kathy Kirk, Kari Haulkyard, Laura Fritz, Beverly Dix, Liz Sorokac and Joshua Reisman, and Caleen Norrod Johnson, executive director of Make-A-Wish Foundation of Southern Nevada.
