Badass bikers take over screen

The Movie: "Hell Ride"

When: Opening Friday at local theaters

The Cast: Eric Balfour, Larry Bishop, David Carradine, Dennis Hopper, Vinnie Jones, Michael Madsen

The Director: Larry Bishop

The Story: A badass biker gang rides to avenge a member's murder at the hands of a rival group.

The Buzz: Despite last year's double-feature "Grindhouse" flop of "Planet Terror" and "Death Proof," Quentin Tarantino tries again as executive producer of this exploitation throwback from writer-director-actor Bishop, a biker-flick veteran ("The Savage Seven," "Chrome and Hot Leather") whose comedian dad, Joey Bishop, ran with a showbiz gang called the Rat Pack. It's Larry Bishop's second filmmaking foray, following 1996's wacky gangster tale "Mad Dog Time." He and Madsen reportedly cooked up "Hell Ride" while shooting Tarantino's 2004 "Kill Bill: Vol. 2."
