Clinics in Schools benefit draws capacity crowd at Aria lounge

On March 1, Clinics in Schools held its third annual benefit in Gold Lounge at Aria in CityCenter. The event drew a capacity crowd, with proceeds from ticket sales and a silent auction going directly to provide care for uninsured children.

Clinics in Schools was founded in Las Vegas in July 2009 with the belief that all children deserve the chance for a bright future and an equal opportunity to succeed. Since its inception, the organization has provided free school-based health care to the children of Southern Nevada.

The full-time, open-all-year clinics are at Martinez and Cunningham elementary schools. Dr. Noah Kohn has served as the schools' medical director and vice chairman since the clinics were founded.

Kohn was joined by Clinics in Schools President Jennifer Schomburg in welcoming guests, including Assemblywoman Marilyn Dondero Loop, D-Las Vegas, and Judge Ann Zimmerman.

Also among the guests were Frank Schreck and Leslie Frisbee, Jody Ghanem and daughter Crystal Ghanem, Dina Titus and Tom Wright, Paul Masto, Virginia Valentine, Mikey Bilbray, Bridget Bilbray Phillips and Steve Phillips, Craig Hudema, Elizsbeth Daniels, Sandy Van, Helen and Cass Palmer, Tim Gerringer and David Goldwater.

Cocktails and appetizers were served as guests socialized and took the opportunity to bid on 37 packages in the silent auction.

Kohn and Schomburg said that at the end of this fiscal year, the two clinics will have received more than 18,500 patient visits and given more than 24,000 vaccinations.

The organization also is actively developing affiliations with local and state agencies to expand school-based health care.

Members of the Clinics in Schools board of directors seen in the crowd were Alisa Nave-Worth, Paul Alberini, Lawrence Sands, Leslie Frisbee, Jacob Bundick, Aimee Stephens, Russell Rowe, Therese Collins, Larry Piparo and Adriana Martinez.

Other guests attending were Dedee Nave, Ben Stephens, Erin Bilbray-Kohn, Robb Worth, Grace Ann and Trent Gore, Rivka Noble, Jessica Sebbo, Jennifer Blumberg, Melissa and David Chenin, Jen and Dave Federer and Janine Marshall.
